What to Wear to THE PLAYERS Championship 2018

As years have gone on the uniform for attending a golf tournament has become less and less conservative although still reserved. Both men and women should avoid wearing anything tight-fitting, low-cut, or skimpy.

Over time, people have jazzed up the classic golf style to make it their own. Some wear fun patterns, some extravagant accessories but one tip we offer you is to avoid wearing anything that will distract golfers on the course.

Take Care of Yourself

Unless you’re planning on stationing yourself at one hole for the entire tournament, there will be a lot of walking involved during your day at TPC Sawgrass. Wearing heels will be uncomfortable and cause you to sink in the grass, both of which are not ideal. We do not recommend flip-flops either, as those are not made for long distance walking. Comfortable shoes such as sneakers, sandals, and padded flats are a desirable choice.

THE PLAYERS Championship is held in May, in Florida, therefore there’s a good chance the weather will be warm. Be sure to pack your sunscreen and apply it throughout the day. For extra protection we suggest wearing a hat and sunglasses, so the sun won’t effect your tournament experience

What to Wear

16_PLA_0512_28517_JDp-1Here are a few do’s and don’ts to keep in mind while packing for your trip to THE PLAYERS.

Do’s:

  • Modest sundress
  • Capris (no jeans)
  • Sleeveless or short-sleeve blouse
  • Shorts (at least mid-thigh length)
  • Sturdy sandals, flats or tennis shoes
  • Cardigan or rain-jacket in-case of cooler weather

Don’ts:

  • Graphic tees
  • Tube tops
  • Spaghetti straps
  • Short-shorts
  • Spandex
  • Jeans
  • Heels and flip-flops
  • Avoid bringing a large tote bag, stick to a 6x6x6 or smaller to hold all of your necessities

For men, it’s as easy as mimicking what you see on the golf course. Avoid wearing anything too casual such as baggy t-shirts, tank tops and cut-offs, and resist the urge to wear golf spikes. Wearing a pressed pair of khaki pants or shorts, a golf polo or shirt, or an oxford button down shirt will suffice. Try finding a dry-fit shirt to absorb any moisture from the heat or wet weather conditions.
