A Breakdown of “The Island Green” at TPC Sawgrass

With less than 24 hours until THE PLAYERS Championship begins, we wanted to break down the iconic 17th hole at TPC Sawgrass Golf Course, also known as The Island Green. It is the shortest yet most dramatic hole throughout the entire course. It is only 132 yards from tee to green with a 78 ft green and contains a small bunker. Your ball can either land in the bunker, on the green or in the water, preferably not the latter.

A prize fund of $10.5 million for 2016 was further endorsed by the sheer level of competition in the field. To categorize such a prize, the $1.89 million winner’s fund usurps that of Arnold Palmer’s entire career earnings.
